Sports Code of Conduct
Players:
- Never question the referee’s decision. Have the coach and the captain ask the referee the necessary questions.
- Be on guard that you never use any foul language.
- A true Sports person will never make excuses for losing – they win with dignity and lose with honour.
- Work hard and have enthusiasm in yourself and your team.
- Always be punctual and attend all your practices – if you cannot make it then it is your duty to personally inform your coach ahead of time.
- If something is bothering you, go and speak to your coach honestly and ask for some advice.
- Always be neatly dressed, according to the school’s rules and values, both on and off the field.
- Handle the facilities and the equipment of the school with respect.
- At all times, you should show through your actions, that you are proud of your school.
- Treat everyone in your team, school and also your opponents with the utmost respect – give credit and acknowledgement to your team mates and opponents for their game play.
- Remember to thank the referee and your opponents after the game.
- Play for the enjoyment of the game and not to make your parents and coach happy.
- If a player does not show up for a match without a valid excuse, they may not be considered for the subsequent match. A demerit can be given for non-attendance of a match.
- Discipline takes precedence over sport.
Barberton Primary School will not tolerate the following:
- Verbal intimidation by the coaches, supporters and parents.
- Unacceptable or aggressive contact by an adult against a younger player.
- Abusive language from the players and parents towards the coaches.
